2003


November 19 - Gis Johannsson took part in USA Network’s Nashville Star auditions. Gis advanced to the second round, were he was able to showcase his writing of lyrics and music by performing his original song, “Bring Me You”.
October 29 - Gis Johannsson and Big City took home FIVE AWARDS at the annual band awards at the renown Cowboy Palace in Chatsworth, CA. Hosted by KZLA's Shawn Parr, this special event drew record crowds. Gis received the coveted "Best male singer" award and Big City the "Over-all best band", just to name a couple.
October 10 - Gis Johannsson & Big City are listed on pollstar.com, an accurate source to locate worldwide tour schedules.
September 15- Gis Johannsson is a featured client with Chart Noise, Inc. with representation by Bob Morrison.
September 5- Native Son is released in the U.S.
August 25 - "Native Son" is currently in the Top 5 of Icelandic National radio charts.
August 1 - DJ Dogg at FM Akureyri, a local radio station, interviews Gis Johannsson.
July 31 - Native Son was officially released in Iceland.
July 31 - Gis is interviewed on National Iceland Broadcast TV Station "RUV" on a program called "Current Affairs" right after the evening news; this is the most watched program in all of Iceland.
July 30 - Gis Johannsson and Jere Mendelsohn perform "Native Son" live at the National Broadcast TV station Stod 2 (Station 2).
July 29 - Gis Johannsson and Big City perform songs from Native Son live at the RAS 2 radio station, (Channel 2) a national broadcast.
July 28 - Gis Johannsson and Big City perform songs from Native Son live at the "Bylgjan" (The Wave) a national broadcast exposure.
July 25 - Gis Johannsson and Big City leave on their European Tour.
July 11 - With his band Big City, Gis is a guest on the Ventura, Calif. radio station KHAY 100.7 morning show, with Jon and Charlye. They perform "3 Little Words" and "Native Son" live.
March 8 - Skip Stecker at KRAZ FM 105.9 in Santa Ynez, Calif, interviews Gis Johannsson on-air.
February 18 - Matt Michaels, the evening air personality at KHAY radio in Ventura, Calif., interviewed Gis Johannsson during an on-air show called "The Santa Fe Café".
February 12 - Gis Johannsson' website, giscountry.com, debuts on KZLA's website, a Los Angeles' based country station. The website has over a million readers.
January 1 - Gis Johannsson gives a live interview on Icelandic National Public radio, which is broadcast nationwide.


ICELAND TOUR 2003 - A review

This summer for the second time, Gis Johannsson and Big City embarked on a tour of Iceland. Country music is vastly spreading across the world, and Iceland is no exception. With multiple TV and Radio appearances, not to mention a packed performance schedule, the band is a household name in Iceland. Native Son, Gis' sophomore album is already in stores in Iceland. Its' title track, "Native Son" has received thundering reviews and airplay.
The tour officially sponsored by the City of Akueyri, took Gis Johannsson and Big City across the country, showcasing their unique style of country music to promote Native Son. After the return of Big City to the U.S., Gis Johannsson remained in Iceland, to further promote Native Son. He appeared solo in his old hometown of Dalvik to audience of 22 thousand performing songs from the album.

2002

September 9 - With a special request made by host Liliana, Gis Johannsson reappears on Camino Real. He performs "3 Little Words" and "This Won't End the Pain", and gives Southern California fans a re-cap of his recent Icelandic tour.
August 29 - Gis Johannsson returns to RAS2 radio with host Hrafnhildur Halldorsdottir. He plays the requested hits "You Live On" and "This Won't End the Pain".
August 4 - Gis Johannsson is the special guest on FM Akureyri 939. Songs from Bring Me You are in the A-List rotation.
August 3 - Gis Johannsson and Big City appear at SYN, a local TV station in Akureyri, Iceland. They play a few cuts from Bring Me You acoustically.
August 2 - Gis Johannsson was interviewed on a local country music station located in Skagastrond, which is owned by Icelandic country icon, Hallbjorn Hjartarson.
July 30 - Gis Johannsson was interviewed on STOD2 TV's "Island I bitio" (Good Morning Iceland) hosted by Johanna and porhallur. Gis and Big City perform four songs live.
July 28 - Gis Johannsson and Big City perform four songs live at RAS2 during an afternoon radio show with Hjalmar Hjalmarsson and Georg Magnusson. Several songs from Bring Me You continue to be requested and played on this station.
July 26 - During a live interview, Gis promotes his upcoming tour to Iceland on Hjalmar Hjalmarsson' morning show.
July 25 - Gis Johannsson arrive in Iceland for the start of the tour. They are featured on the National Evening News, RUV1 TV. The station features Gis performing a bite from "You Live On".
July 16 - Gis Johannsson gives a transcontinental interview live on RAS2 radio (Iceland National Radio) and provides details about the upcoming tour. The station played "You Live On" and "This Won't End the Pain" in anticipation of Gis' arrival with his new album, Bring Me You.
June 10 - Gis Johannsson is the featured artist on Camino Real, hosted by Liliann that is broadcasted over Time Warner network in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. During the show, Gis performs a live version of "Come Back to Me". He debuted the video for the song as well. The pre-recorded show has since rebroadcast due to popular demand.
